Ronan Curtis

Northern Irish/Irish

Ronan was a prolific goalscorer at youth level for Ulster club Swilly Rovers before joining Derry City's youth team in 2014. Ronan was involved at first team level for the first time in March 2015 and would make two League starts that season. On the last day of the 2015 season Ronan scored his first Irish Premier League goal. Ronan quickly thereafter signed his first professional contract.

Ronan played a key role for Derry in the 2016 season, playing either wide or as a central striker - eventually being awarded both the club's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year Award. He scored goals in both legs of the FAI Cup semi-final as Derry City narrowly missed out to Dundalk. The 2017 season was Ronan's real breakthrough year - starting 31 times in the Irish Premier Division, scoring 8 goals and playing in the Europa League.

In addition to regularly appearing for Ireland's Under 21 side (often one of the few players to be domestically based to do so), Ronan amassed 86 appearances in the Irish Premier Division (scoring 17 times) before Portsmouth - in England's League One - beat off competition from a number of UK clubs to secure his transfer for an undisclosed fee in May 2018.
