Aidan Keena

Hartlepool United

Aidan Keena joined St Patrick's in 2016 after spells during his schoolboy career with Shelbourne and Mullingar. Impressing in 2016 for St Pat's Under 19's, scoring 9 times in 14 games, Aidan was moved to the senior squad for the 2017 season and made his competitive debut on 24th February 2017 against Bray.

Aidan has represented Ireland at Under 17 and Under 18 level and is a tall, powerful forward with an eye for goal.

Late in 2017, after just 3 senior appearances for St Patrick's, Aidan transferred for an undisclosed sum to Scottish Premier League club Heart of Midlothian. Impressive performances for their Under 20 side - including two hat-tricks - meant he did not have to wait long for his senior debut, entering the field of play as a substitute in the SPL on the 19th November 2017 at home to Partick Thistle.

Late in the January 2018 window, Aidan joined Queen's Park (in the Scottish League One) on loan. Despite joining a side bottom of the division and struggling for results, Aidan's first regular taste of senior football went spectacularly well - he scored 7 League goals in his first 7 League starts, including some wonder-strikes from distance. Ending his loan with 8 League goals from 13 starts, it was no surprise to find that as the 2018/2019 season started many clubs a division higher were courting Aidan's loan signature. Eventually joining Championship side Dunfermline, Aidan scored 4 goals in 10 League starts before Hearts recalled him in January 2019.

On 23 January 2019, Aidan made his first start in the SPL, at home to Dundee. After making 11 first team appearances in all for Hearts, Aidan made the move in January 2020 to England - transferring to Hartlepool United.
