Full Contact client Shane Blaney has today completed a transfer from his Irish club Finn Harps to Doncaster Rovers, in League One here in England.

Blaney, who turns 19 next week, is a left-footed centre half who has captained Ireland at Under 18 level.  He made his Irish Premier League debut for Finn Harps on 1 September and – only four months later – he has secured a dream over to the EFL.

Signing a long-term deal at Doncaster, Shane is the third Full Contact client to transfer from Ireland to England this window – following in the foot-steps of Simon Power and Warren O’Hora.

Patrick Conliffe, head of Full Contact’s Ireland office and pictured above with Shane, commented “This is a fantastic move for Shane. Things have happened really quickly for him; he had earned a good reputation through the junior ranks and was a player clubs knew of, but as soon as he made his debut for Finn Harps there was a lot of interest. Shane was fortunate enough to have different options, but he spent some time with Doncaster and really enjoyed the set-up and is confident that, in good time, he can breakthrough and play in the EFL.  He has a superb attitude and lots of desire, so allied with his height, left foot and good technique, he’s got a real chance.”

Dan Chapman, Full Contact’s senior partner, said “We are delighted to secure another good move for one of our young Irish talents. The fact we have completed three transfers this window alone of Irish teenagers to the English professional leagues just goes to show how much talent there is at the moment in Ireland and it justifies the investment and faith in our Dublin operation that we set up 18 months or so ago. A lot of hard work is starting to bear fruit and it is great news for our Irish clients.”

We wish Shane and Doncaster Rovers all the best.
