Full Contact client George Green has today joined Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock on loan from parent club Burnley.
George, who signed for now Premier League club Burnley in early 2016 following a spell in non-league football, has excelled in u21 football since returning to the professional ranks – and now looks to gain vital senior experience. George has previously made 9 appearances in the Football League (at Tranmere and Oldham), following a youth career at Everton.
Kilmarnock, who include Full Contact client Souleymane Coulibaly in their squad, started their League season last weekend with a defeat against Motherwell and will hope to see George add creativity, flair and a goal threat.
Full Contact’s Head of Football Lee Payne commented “This is a fantastic opportunity for George. When he signed for Burnley, we were all aware that the first six months or so was about getting George back to the full-time environment, getting him fully fit and showing again the supreme talent and ability that he has – that talent which led Everton to pay good money for him and England to call him up. Burnley have done a great job in getting George firing again but now he needs to make the step up to first team level. The move to Kilmarnock is ideal; George is a player that needs to play as high as possible and the SPL is a very high standard indeed. It will be tough for him but it is his chance, finally, to show what he can do. Lee Clark and the chairman at Kilmarnock have been fantastic in working with us and Burnley to make this loan come off – so it is over to George now!”
Subject to international clearance, George may be able to make his bow at the weekend – we wish him and Kilmarnock all the best.
