Full Contact client Ash Hunter has today signed a new, long-term contract at Fleetwood Town.
Ash, 20, joined the League One club in January 2015 from non-league Ilkeston and he has so far made 39 Football League appearances. He has scored 7 League goals and 10 in all competitions.
Putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2019, this is due reward for Ash’s often game-changing appearances. A regular provider of assists as well as goals, Ash’s direct style and energy has impressed new Fleetwood manager Uwe Rosler who wasted little time in securing Ash’s services for the longer term.
Ash, who scored last night in Fleetwood’s 2-0 win at home to Oxford United, is one of a number of former non-league players on Full Contact’s roster to make a big impression in the Football League. Head of Football Lee Payne commented that “we are very pleased for Ash that his performances since joining the club have been rewarded with this new contract. His contract was up at the end of the season and a number of clubs have been tracking him, but under Uwe Rosler we think he is in the right place to develop. The style of play under Uwe is going to suit him and we think Ash is going to go from strength to strength. His goals and assists to minutes ratio is quite incredible and hopefully we will be seeing more and more of him on the field of play. He has tremendous attributes and is a great character and we are very proud of what he has accomplished since leaving non-league – but there is a lot more to come from him still. He has a real chance to get very far in the game.”
