Full Contact client Harry White has made a transfer-deadline day move to League One club Barnsley.
Harry, 20, is the latest Full Contact client to make the leap from non-league to the ranks of the professional game. Harry, who was under contract at National League North club Gloucester City, has joined Lee Johnson’s side for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Harry’s move to the professional game comes within only one year of his return to the UK after boasting a prolific goal-scoring record in US college football. At Gloucester City, Harry would score 8 goals in 17 starts last season before being the subject of a large transfer bid from a rival non-league club shortly before the beginning of this season. Although Gloucester City felt compelled to accept that bid, Harry chose to reject the move – content to remain where we was until a dream move to the Football League came along. That has now arrived, perhaps sooner than he was expecting, but due reward for his swashbuckling performances and traditional no.9 forward play. Harry has today signed a two year contract with the League One club.
Full Contact’s senior partner Dan Chapman commented “This is yet another example of how Full Contact remains dedicated to identifying the best talent out there in non-league, or perhaps those players arriving on these shores from lesser known footballing backgrounds. The team we have in place, headed by our Lee Payne and ably assisted – in this case – by the likes of Jon Herrador, who was the one to spot Harry, is fast becoming known as a serious recruiter of raw talent and it is refreshing to see clubs like Barnsley prepared to give a player like Harry a professional opportunity. A lot of clubs are still reluctant to recruit from outside of the more traditional markets but we continue to believe, and are showing it time and time again, that there is incredible ability and potential – not to mention value for money – out there. We just need to keep on finding it! Harry has worked hard on his game since returning from US college football and he is only going to get fitter, stronger and better in a pro environment – once he gets fully firing he is going to cause defenders a lot of problems with his physicality and he’s a got a very good chance of having a great future in the game.”
All at Full Contact wish Harry White and Barnsley all the best as another client celebrates turning professional.
