Full Contact client Ashley Hunter scored his first professional goal on Easter Monday as Fleetwood Town beat Yeovil Town to boost their play-off challenge.
Ashley, 19, only joined the League One club three months ago (from non-league Ilkeston FC) and he has wasted no time at all in making the transition to the professional ranks – despite now plying his trade four divisions higher than he was earlier in the season.
The Yeovil Town fixture was Ashley’s eighth appearance for the Cod Army as a substitute and after catching the eye frequently, his big moment was to come in 83rd minute when he converted Jamie Proctor’s cross with a neat finish from an awkward angle.
Ashley, pictured here after the game with his parents, will now be looking to make his first Football League start – which surely can’t be far away now.
Footage of Ashley’s goal can be found here. All at Full Contact wish Ashley and Fleetwood Town the best for the remaining games of the season as they seek to make a late play-off push; they currently sit four points off sixth place.
