Full Contact client Reggie Lambe has today signed for League Two club Mansfield Town.
Bermudan international Reggie, full name Reginald Thompson-Lambe, is aged 23 and returns to the English professional game after almost a three year absence.
The versatile Bermudan, who can play on either flank as a winger or wing back, or in a more central role in midfield or attack, has spent most of his time away from the UK plying his trade in the MLS for Toronto. During two full seasons he played 55 times for the Canadian based club in the MLS league, and totalled over 60 appearances in all.
After the conclusion of the 2013/2014 season, Reggie completed a short term contract in Sweden, which was all part of the plan for his anticipated return to England. Reggie’s initial career in England had of course begun at Ipswich Town, where he broke in to the first team under Roy Keane’s management – after much success for the Suffolk club at reserve and youth level.
Dan Chapman, senior partner of Full Contact, commented “Reggie is one of the number of Bermudan players we are representing, and after he left Toronto he was clear that he wanted to return to England and re-start the career that he had begun here at Ipswich. The timing of the MLS season close was such that Reggie spent 3 months in Sweden to gain fitness and match sharpness – effectively his pre-season – although the slight downside was that he arrived for the English pre-season later than would have been ideal. He has shown great desire and hunger to get back in to the professional game here, and after impressing on trial at Mansfield we are very pleased he is back.”
Lee Payne stated “Reggie has real technical ability and is very versatile; it was always going to be difficult for him to re-adjust to the pace and intensity of the English game, having spent two years or so playing in the MLS. He has worked hard at it throughout the summer, and now he has his opportunity to deliver – if he can piece together everything he has in its locker, and become effective in the Football League with those attributes, he could be some player.”
We wish Reggie and Mansfield Town all the best for the remainder of the season.
