ShaqMcDonald170714Full Contact Shaquille McDonald has signed for Championship club Derby County, putting pen to paper on a two year contract.

Shaq, who recently turned 19, has been on trial with the Rams since the start of pre-season and impressed sufficiently to secure the move to Pride Park.

A prolific goalscorer at non-league club Chasetown and then Peterborough United’s academy sides, Shaquille has already had experience at numerous different levels of football for one so young.  Lee Payne, head of Full Contact’s Football Agency team, explained “Shaq has had a lot of highs and lows already in his brief career so far, and approaching pre-season we all discussed his situation – having regard for the absolute belief we have in his natural ability.  We wanted to find him a club where his raw talents could be nurtured and developed, in an Academy environment; he is some distance from being the finished article, even though he was a substitute in the Championship at 17, and a prolific non-league goalscorer. He went on trial at Derby County, and credit to Shaq that he had got himself into great shape. Derby, thankfully, saw in Shaq the same potential that we have and we are very pleased that we were able conclude an agreement for a two year deal, at a club that will give him every opportunity to develop and succeed.”

Shaquille himself said “To finalise this move to Derby County has been really special.  I have felt so at home at this club ever since I arrived and I just want to thank Steve McLaren, Lee Glover, Chris Evans and all the staff at Derby for giving me this opportunity, and to Lee and Dan at Full Contact for all of their hard work and belief in me.”

We wish Shaquille and Derby County all the best for the coming season.
