There’s a new Formula 2 team on the grid.
From next season INmotorsport will be competing in the FIA Formula Two Championship for the first time (subject to FIA ratification). The company has already developed a stunning new racing car, the Ryan DB1, which is a celebration of all that’s great about British engineering, now they are going a step further by forming a team that they are confident will be challenging for the title and then moving through the ranks to the top of the F1 tree. INmotorsport are intent upon following the path taken by the likes of Red Bull – the creation of a new motorsports brand and team which has the ambition and drive to go all the way to the very top. CEO John Bresnahan says “We set up INmotorsport to be part of the excitement, passion and glamour of the racing circuit. But also for us, it’s all about supporting and celebrating the best young talent in a sport where talent often plays second fiddle to one’s financial circumstances.”
Their first appointment is Martin Donnelly to be Team Principal for the 2013 season. Martin was one of the most talented young drivers around in the late 80s climbing to the pinnacle of F1 until a horror crash in 1990 at Jerez- he was ejected from his car on to the track with his seat still attached to his back – ended his promising career. The accident did not dim his love of motorsport and he is now widely regarded as both a premier coach of young motor-racing drivers and one of the most knowledgable men on the pit lane. With Donnelly as Principal it is clear that INmotorsport are very, very serious. They are in it to win it.
Further driver announcements will follow shortly but INmotorsport is delighted to confirm that rising star Dino Zamparelli has already agreed to be one of the three drivers on the team. Dino was the 2011 Formula Renault champion and finalist for the McLaren Autosport BRDC young driver of the year award. Last season he caught the eye with many breathtaking F2 drives. He is likely to be a serious contender this season. Anyone who can drive this well – see his exploits on the Kemmel Straight at Spa – is quite a prospect.
The project is being helmed by Full Contact, an innovative sports law agency set up earlier this year to offer a boutique service to sporting professionals and teams. The Full Contact stable includes Dan Chapman, a solicitor with considerable sports law and motorsports expertise; Will Buckley, a barrister and broadcaster; and Maurice Hamilton, the doyen of motor racing journalists. Full Contact are appointed to manage and administer the team’s legal, sporting and commercial affairs and their first key role was the appointment of Donnelly. Dan Chapman says, “this is an incredibly exciting project because not only are we creating a team from scratch we are doing so in a totally novel way. The drive and ambition of the INmotorsport company fits perfectly with our ethos and we have enjoyed already the fruits of our mutual labour in getting this project off the ground.””
Nor is it only about the racing, good as this will undoubtedly be. INmotorsport is part of the INorg Group, a fast-expanding holding company focussing on explosive growth who have already reported incredible success in fields as diverse as aviation and luxury property development. CEO John Bresnahan says, “we do business differently. Success means more than profits, it’s about creating a legacy.” INmotorsport does not just want to win, they want to be remembered.
And a vital part of this legacy is A LIFE for a CURE, the charity formed after Ryan Bresnahan died very suddenly from Meningitis B on 31 March 2010. The INorg group was formed to find a vaccine for Meningitis B, which kills hundreds every year and seriously handicaps many hundreds more. The INorg group will keep winning and searching until one is found. Spurred on by this weekend’s news that the vaccine, known as Bexsero, is expected to receive its UK licence early next year John Bresnahan says “we started a LIFE for a CURE to celebrate the life of our son Ryan Bresnahan. The name means what it says – his life in exchange for a cure, so this is the best news we have heard since we started our fight to stop this deadly disease.”
All at Full Contact are extremely excited at the launch of the INmotorsport F2 team and the future ahead.
