Simon Power

Norwich City

Simon Power began his youth career at Dublin club Cabinteely and, whilst still an Under 17 player, made his senior debut for them in August 2015. That solitary appearance was enough to prompt a move to UCD, the prestigious Dublin university-based club that fellow Full Contact clients Andy Boyle and Robbie Benson began their careers at.

On 8 August 2016, Simon made his UCD debut - ironically against Cabinteely - and he would make 3 substitute appearances for the senior team during the 2016 season. Simon's primary role was as a star player for the UCD Under 19 side, which in October 2016, secured the Irish U19 League title when they beat Galway 4-1, with Simon scoring a brace.

The opening fixture of the 2017 season saw Simon make his first start for UCD and score his first goal - with both feats coming against former side Cabinteely again! Simon made 10 League appearances for UCD during the 2017 season and - amidst interest from a number of UK clubs - he received national recognition, appearing for both Ireland's Under 18 and Under 19 sides.

Simon is a winger or forward, blessed with blistering pace and an eye for goal - assets which caught the eye of Norwich City, prompting Simon to sign an 18 month contract for the Canaries on 3rd January 2018, the latest Full Contact Ireland player to make the move to the UK. After some early substitute appearances for Norwich City's under 23 side, Simon soon established himself as a regular starter - and by the 2018/2019 season he regularly shone in the U23 Premier League. On 7 January 2019 Simon signed a new long-term contract at Carrow Road with Norwich confirming their long-term belief in him by sending him out loan for the remainder of the season to Dutch club FC Dordrecht.

Simon made his Dordrecht debut as a substitute on 28 January against Jong PSV and such was his performance that he would start the next game against Jong Ajax on 1 February 2019. A goal and a man of the match performance in a 3-3 draw amounted to a great start! Following his return from the Netherlands loan, Simon's next experience was a loan in Scotland at SPL side Ross County. Four appearances in Scotland over a few months prompted Norwich City to recall Simon and loan him out closer to home - this time to ambitious National League North side King's Lynn. On 18 January 2020 Simon earned man of the match on his debut as Lynn beat York City 1-0.
