Robert Atkinson is the twin brother of fellow Full Contact client, Michael Atkinson. He spent his formative youth years playing in French football including at the prestigious AS Cannes Academy before his family returned to the UK.

Robert, like his brother, has played a lot of Futsal, working his way up to Reading's FA National Futsal Super League team and earning England u19 development squad honours.

He is a left-footed central defender or midfield player with good technique and size, standing at 6ft 4. Despite being aged just 17, Rob joined Met Police Reserves in October 2015 and played for the remainder of the 2015/2016 season (as well as continuing with a full and final season of Futsal) before he joined Basingstoke Town prior to the start of the 2016/2017 season under manager Terry Brown.

Quickly establishing himself as a first-team regular, Robert has amassed in the region of 35 starts in a high level of senior football, still whilst aged only 18. But for a broken ankle which saw him miss 13 weeks he would have played many more! The 2016/2017 season culminated in Basingstoke winning the Hampshire FA Senior Cup, beating Bournemouth at Southampton's St Mary's stadium, a fixture in which Rob excelled. Rob was also named as Basingstoke's Player of the Season.

In the summer of 2017 Rob turned professional, completing a dream transfer to Championship club Fulham - Rob becoming the latest in a long line of non-league talents spotted by Full Contact and progressed to the pro ranks.
