Matt Kosylo

FC Halifax Town

Matt, an exciting forward player, enjoyed an excellent 2015/16 season for Nantwich Town with 13 goals and countless assists and man of the match awards. Matt played a key role in Nantwich progressing to the FA Trophy semi-finals for the first time in their history and whilst they bowed out to National League Halifax at that stage, Matt impressed in both legs. On 17th April 2016, Matt was named as the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Young Player of the Season. In the previous 2014/15 season Matt had also been voted Nantwich's player of the season by their supporters.

Matt, with Ukraine parentage, had begun his career at Stockport County and was a star of their youth and reserve teams between 2008 and 2011. As a promising first team career for Stockport beckoned under a first professional contract, a serious injury curtailed Matt's career at the critical time. He rebuilt his career at Ashton United over a two year period, and after short spells with Vauxhall Motors and Hyde he began to flourish again after joining Nantwich in 2014.

On 4th July 2016, Matt transferred to FC Halifax Town signing a two year contract - stepping up to join the club that he had tormented over two legs in the FA Trophy the season before. Once established in the starting eleven, Matt quickly became a fans favourite at Halifax, impressing mostly as a winger yet still scoring 10 League goals by mid April (and 14 in all competitions) and assisting many more as his side pushed for promotion.
