Dexter Atkinson

Forward / Winger

Dexter, a forward or wide player with electric pace, spent his teens playing (and scoring prodigiously) for teams such as Dunkirk, Stapleford and Sheffield FC.

Dexter spent the second half of the 2014/15 season playing in Gibraltar for Europa Point FC where he scored 26 goals in 19 appearances, making him the leading goalscorer in the top two flights in Gibraltar despite only joining the club mid-season.

On his return to England, Dexter played on a non-contract basis for Clipstone where he scored 4 goals in 7 games. On the 16th October 2015 he signed for full-time outfit Ilkeston FC, and he made his debut as a substitute the next day. Dexter made an immediate impression, winning a penalty and scoring in a 3-1 home win against Buxton. That performance earned Dexter his first start away to Stourbridge on the 19th October and Dexter duly scored the winner in a 2-1 victory. He provided an excellent assist in his third appearance, a third win in 3 for his new club Ilkeston. Dexter's progress was then thwarted by an injury but returning to the side in January 2016 Dexter scored an excellent goal on 23rd January 2016 away to Sutton Coldfield. Dexter, by the end of the season, had scored 7 Leagues goals from 16 starts in all but now more regularly deployed in a wide role.
