Alefe Santos

Derby County

Born in Anapolis, Brazil, Alefe moved with his family to England and started a two-year scholarship with Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2011.

The next season, he made his professional debut whilst still a scholar on 20 November 2012, coming on as a substitute away to Port Vale in League Two. Signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2013, Alefe became a regular player in the Bristol Rovers first team in the 2013-14 season, putting in some match winning performances and scoring his first professional goal.

Equally good with both feet, Alefe can play left or right wing and Ritchie Humphreys (the Chesterfield veteran full back and PFA Chairman, who has played against Alefe) was one of a number who that season predicted a bright future for Alefe, having had the task of marking him.

On the 1st July 2014, after turning down a new deal at Bristol Rovers, Alefe signed a two year contract at Derby County - with training compensation for Alefe ultimately determined by a Tribunal.

Alefe scored in his first two appearances for Derby's U21 side in their Premier League (U21) campaign, at home to Middlesbrough and away to Arsenal. Those performances would not go unnoticed by Steve McClaren, and Alefe was called up to the squad (and started as a substitute) for the League Cup second round match against Charlton. Entering the field of play in the 70th minute, Alefe enjoyed an impressive first team debut, contributing greatly to a late 1-0 victory.

On the 9th January 2015 Alefe joined League One club Notts County on a month's loan and the following day Alefe made his first League One appearance - entering the field of play as a half-time substitute away to Bristol City (arch rivals of Alefe's former club Rovers). On the 17th January Alefe started his first League One game as Notts County ran out 2-1 winners against Crewe.
