A partner at Leathes Prior Solicitors and Head of their Sports Team, Dan is an experienced solicitor and advocate, with a specialist background in employment law and sports. He is also a FA Registered Intermediary.
With a wealth of experience acting for sporting clients, including Premiership football clubs and Formula One and other motorsport teams, as well as individual sports professionals, Dan brings a passion for the sporting world to his work. He understands the fast-paced, competitive environment you are navigating, and has worked hard to make sure that Full Contact’s services will meet your needs in full. Dan himself is passionate about sport from grass roots level up, and indeed has personally been heavily involved in sports such as rugby, football and gymnastics at amateur level. More commercially, Dan in his teenage years had developed a successful ‘play-by-mail’ football business – a sign of things to come, and indicative of the rare blend of commercial acumen, work ethic and academic prowess that he brings to his clients. Many years later Full Contact had become his natural professional progression.
Dan has built up extensive experience of tribunals, disciplinary hearings and other high-pressure legal situations, in which having the right representation can make all the difference. Dan specialises in assisting sporting clients in an array of commercial and regulatory matters, often becoming a valued adviser who develops such an in depth knowledge and understanding of his client’s affairs and objectives that he is consulted (and crucially, adds value) on a daily basis. Dan and his colleagues are increasingly instructed to assist football clubs in financial difficulties and has a proven track record of delivering turnaround solutions. Dan has also conducted – in his capacity as FA Registered Intermediary – numerous transfers at all levels of the game and assists in Full Contact’s intermediary services provided to professional players. As well as his solicitor and FA Registered Intermediary status he is also a founder member and current Vice-Chair of SOFIA (a representative body for football agents and intermediaries that Dan plays an active part in) and has FA approval to represent players under the age of 18.
Dan is consistently rated as a ‘Leader’ in Sports and Employment Law.
