Full Contact client Ronan Curtis is to transfer from his Irish Premier Division club Derry City to England’s Portsmouth.

Ronan, 22, has completed a pre-transfer agreement to move to Kenny Jackett’s League One club once the summer window opens – he will remain at Derry City for the coming weeks.

Having played 85 times in the Irish Premier Division and scoring 17 goals, mostly playing wide although adept at playing as a central attacker too,  Ronan has caught the eye of many watching scouts in the last year or so.  With numerous opportunities to move abroad, Full Contact’s Head of Ireland (pictured below with Ronan at Portsmouth) Patrick Conliffe explained;

“When the interest from Portsmouth developed beyond their scouting network following Ronan and expressing their like of him to some firm activity from the Portsmouth executive and Kenny Jackett, it became clear this could be an exciting move for Ronan.  Portsmouth is a huge club in League One, and we thought it would be the perfect platform for him – both to ensure he settles in to English football well, but also in terms of the opportunity this gives him to launch a top professional career. Ronan already as a lot of experience of senior football for Derry including in the Europa League, for Ireland under 21 and the step now to the English Football League is one we are confident he can transition comfortably too.”

Full Contact’s senior partner Dan Chapman added “This was not the most simple transfer to have effected and credit has to go to the Board at Portsmouth who were steadfast in their determination to land Ronan amidst a lot of competition. I would like to thank my colleagues Patrick and Jon Herrador for their hard work and it is great to see Full Contact complete yet another Ireland to England transfer, strengthening our reputation in this important market for emerging talent.”

Ronan has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2020 with an option for a further year, whilst Derry City and Portsmouth agreed an undisclosed transfer fee.
