Full Contact client Mickey Demetriou, who played such a vital role in Newport County’s incredible Football League survival, has today put pen to paper on a two year contract with the club.
Mickey signed for Newport in January 2017 at a time when their relegation seemed an almost certainty; following an injury gained in pre-season whilst on trial at a League One club, Mickey found himself returning to football in what seemed to be an impossible situation. Largely played in his preferred position as a centre-back (many managers having previously opted to play Mickey at left-back) Mickey soon returned to full fitness and form and would prove to be pivotal in ‘The Great Escape’.
Four goals from his seventeen appearances assisted hugely but it was Mickey’s towering dominance at centre-back that prompted Newport County to retain Mickey’s services for the longer term, fending off interest from numerous other League clubs.
All at Full Contact wish Mickey and Newport County the very best for the 2017/2018 season.
