Full Contact client Dan Udoh has today become yet another client to make the transition from non-league football to the professional game.
19 year old Dan has completed a transfer today from Ilkeston FC in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League to League One club Crewe Alexandra. He is the latest Full Contact client to make the move from Ilkeston to the Football League – Che Adams, Ashley Hunter, Akil Wright, Rai Simons and Rhys Dolan have all already made that same progression.
Dan joined Ilkeston last summer following spells with a number of non-league clubs closer to his London home such as Grays Athletic – as a schoolboy Dan had been at Stevenage. In relocating to Ilkeston due to their full-time set up, Dan worked hard to establish himself at senior level and his rewards came when Crewe made the move to secure his services.
Commenting on the transfer Full Contact’s senior partner Dan Chapman said “Dan is further testament, if it were needed, as to how determination, desire and a work ethic can get a young player in to the professional game. He was playing non-league football at a very good level as a young player but he realised last summer that he needed to be in a full-time environment in order to get fully fit. His game is largely about his strength and fitness, so whilst it could not have been easy moving up to Ilkeston and having to live on a very modest income – which Dan managed to subsidize by working part-time as well – his decision paid off in spades. Ilkeston have as ever been very accommodating in allowing Dan to take this opportunity and in Crewe he has found a club with a tremendous track record of nurturing and improving young players. It’s a very good move for all parties.”
We wish Dan all the best as he begins his career as a professional footballer.
