Full Contact client Kelle Roos has today joined Championship club Rotherham United on a season-long loan, shortly after signing a new long-term contract at Derby County.
With his current Derby contract due to expire in less than 12 months’ time, Kelle put pen to paper earlier this week on a new three year deal. Kelle was an ever present as Derby’s no.2 keeper last season in the Championship and also impressed in Cup fixtures, but has yet to make his Football League debut.
With the signing of Scott Carson giving the new Derby County manager Paul Clement the option of sending Kelle out on loan (something which was not possible last season), all parties moved quickly to secure the move to the New York Stadium.
Lee Payne, head of football at Full Contact and pictured here with Kelle signing his new contract at the IPro Stadium and completing the loan move, explained “Derby County, under their new management, decided to follow a different strategy with Kelle than that which the club followed last season. The objective for all parties was to reflect and reward the high regard which the club have for Kelle and for him to commit his long term future to the club, and the new contract does just that. But more importantly, Derby were keen not only for Kelle to now get the opportunity to play Football League games but to do so at the highest level. The chance to join Rotherham United on loan, in the Championship, is an incredible one and shows the belief that both clubs have in his ability. We are very confident that Kelle will prove to be an excellent goalkeeper at this level.”
Dan Chapman, senior partner of Full Contact, commented “This is an exciting day; less than two years ago, in November 2013, we were taking Kelle to Nuneaton in the Conference Premier division as an unknown Dutch keeper and now he has signed a long-term deal at Derby County and has the chance to play Championship football this season. A lot of people have worked very hard behind the scenes to make this happen, but crucially Kelle has always delivered each time he has had to make the step up, and we are confident he will do so again.”
All at Full Contact wish Kelle, Derby and Rotherham well in this move.
