Full Contact client Callum Chettle has today been called up by the England C squad, for their forthcoming fixture against Republic of Ireland U21.
Callum’s selection is a notable achievement; whilst the England C criteria permit all players outside of the professional game (and aged under 23) to be called-up it is extremely rare for a player outside of the Conference Premier or North/South divisions to catch the eye of the selectors. Indeed, the last Evo-Stik player to receive an England C call-up was Callum’s former team-mate and fellow Full Contact client Che Adams – although within days of his call, Che signed for Sheffield United meaning that his professional status prevented him from playing.
Callum has just completed another strong season and has now amassed almost 100 appearances for Ilkeston, despite still being aged only 18. The Republic of Ireland game – to be played at Galway United’s stadium on the 1st June 2015 – is a fitting reward for his stand-out performances all season.
All at Full Contact wish Callum well as he hopes to make his international bow on the 1st June.
