Seb,19, starred in post-season testing for Status GP in Abu Dhabi last November and has put pen to paper on a 2015 race contract. Pre-season testing for the GP3 drivers begins on the 18th March in Estoril, Portugal and after further tests in Valencia and Barcelona the Series begins in May in Barcelona. The season follows the GP2 and F1 calendar with the glamorous finale concluding in Abu Dhabi in late November.
GP3 includes amongst its former champions Valterri Bottas (2011 champion) and Daniil Kvyat (2013 champion) who both progressed direct to F1 after their remarkable GP3 seasons. Esteban Gutierrez (2010 champion) made it to F1 via GP2. Other GP3 drivers to have recently progressed to GP2 from the Series include Alex Lynn, James Calado and Mitch Evans.
Dan Chapman, senior partner of Full Contact, said “It is with great delight that we will see Seb racing in GP3 this season, and the fact we have been able to make that happen with Status GP – after the promising performance in Abu Dhabi late last year – is even better. The jump from racing in England and then last season’s maiden European season in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC to GP3 is huge ; but we are all confident that Seb has the ability to shine as a rookie.”
Seb himself commented “I always wanted to be in GP3 this year with Status, the team wanted me as well so it;’s fantastic that we have put the deal together. I definitely feel ready for GP3 and I believe I can compete with the best.”
All at Full Contact wish Seb and Status all the very best for a huge season of racing.
