Full Contact client Ashley Hunter made his professional debut on Saturday 7th February 2015, entering the field of play as a 76th minute substitute in the Cod Army’s League One fixture against Peterborough.
Ashley, 19, had only signed for Fleetwood Town on the 5th January – completing a transfer from Ilkeston FC which saw him become the latest starlet and Full Contact client to progress from the Derbyshire non-league outfit to the professional game.
Ashley’s last senior appearance had been for Ilkeston on the 3rd January 2015 against Barwell in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League – little more than a month later he made his professional bow in front of a watching Sir Alex Ferguson. He nearly made an immediate impact too ; beating his full back all ends up before putting in a peach of a cross only for Jamie Proctor to rattle the bar with four minutes to play. Winning praise from his manager Graham Alexander for the way in which he ‘lit the place up’ Ashley can be delighted with the first impression he has made at pro level.
Following on from the recent exploits of Che Adams, all involved with Ilkeston FC will no doubt be proud as their latest son makes the grade so quickly after departing – and credit goes to Ashley for how hard he has worked on his fitness and game in the last month (which included two goals on his first appearance for Fleetwood’s Under 21 side).
All at Full Contact are proud that Ashley is now a fully fledged professional footballer!
