Full Contact client Che Adams scored his first two professional goals last night, choosing a huge night to do so in front of the TV cameras as Sheffield United played out their semi-final second leg against Tottenham Hotspur.
Che, who had only signed for the Blades from non-league Ilkeston FC in mid November and who had made so far made one competitive start and two substitute appearances (totalling just 136 minutes of professional football), entered the field of play in the 75 minute with his side 1-0 down on the night and 2-0 down on aggregate.
Within just minutes, the watching millions had learned who Che Adams was : a quite superb finish from Flynn’s excellent cross reduced the Blades’ deficit. Che, not content with scoring his first professional goal, was at it again just two minutes later – controlling a cross with a super touch he fired a strong shot with the aid of a deflection past the Spurs keeper Vorm.
Sadly, a late Christian Eriksen goal would see the Premier League side through to the final and deny Che and the Blades a fairytale outcome, but nonetheless the story had been told. The 18 year old had proven – if there were any doubt – that he could replicate what he regularly delivered for Ilkeston FC on one of the biggest stages of all.
