The Academy members will attend workshops which will focus on sport science, fitness training and education. Delivered in partnership with Elite Sports Performance, each element in this workshop will put in place the building blocks for each individual driver’s ongoing development throughout their time in the Academy. This includes fitness testing to set a baseline level of performance that will be used to tailor training programmes for each participant.
The Academy provides a fully-funded training programme which aims to help drivers develop their motor sport careers, whilst actively promoting the principles of safety, fairness and responsibility on and off the track. The drivers receive expert tutelage and advice from Academy performance managers Alex Wurz and Robert Reid.
Academy graduates will be required to also perform an important ambassadorial role (a career-long requirement) by promoting safety and other key FIA initiatives intended to help motor sport develop and thrive across the globe.
