Full Contact client Mickey Demetriou played a starring role as his League Two club Shrewsbury Town beat the Premier League’s Leicester City 1-0 away.
On the back of helping his side to 7 points in his first three League games since making the transition from non-league football, including scoring his first league goal, last night saw Shrewsbury travel to Leicester – perhaps more in hope than in expectation. A sterling performance from start to finish saw Mickey Mellon’s side comfortably win the game, and Mickey played excellently in the left wing back position – contributing both defensively but also providing some good deliveries and attacking input.
Mickey had a taste of Cup giant-killing last season in the FA Cup with Kidderminster Harriers (who beat Peterborough before narrowly losing to Sunderland) but last night’s win and performance was arguably the highlight of his career to date.
We wish Shrewsbury and Mickey all the best as they progress to the third round of the League Cup.
