Full Contact client Jay Lynch followed up his Football League debut last week, as a substitute, with his first start yesterday. Jay kept goal for Accrington Stanley against Luton Town.
21 year old keeper Jay had appeared as a 43rd minute substitute last Tuesday (against Shrewsbury Town) after Stanley’s starting keeper saw red, presenting Jay with his first opportunity to stake his claim for the no.1 jersey.
Accrington, starting the game bottom of the table, soared into a 2-0 lead and whilst Jay could do nothing about the two goals that saw ambitious Luton draw level he did make a number of outstanding saves to ensure Stanley took their first point of the season.
Jay, formerly an academy player at Manchester United and then Bolton, will now look to build on his first taste of competitive League football and build upon the excellent natural talent that has impressed so many at development level over the last few years.
