Full Contact’s Seb Morris gets his 2014 racing season underway in earnest this weekend at Monza, Italy.
Seb, pictured here with his Fortec Motorsports Formula Renault 2.0 NEC car, raced as a wildcard entry last weekend in Imola in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps series and posted impressive results in a large field (beating many drivers with more experience and who will be racing this season at a higher level). But it is this weekend when the real action starts, as the presitigious Monza circuit provides a great backdrop for the season’s opener.
Seb, now part of the Caterham F1 Academy, is aiming to follow in the footsteps of Caterham colleague Matt Parry – who won the 2013 NEC championship (also racing with Fortec). The competition will be fierce; from a British perspective the grid includes McLaren backed driver Ben Barnicoat, last season’s F4 champion Jake Hughes and contender Matty Graham but also plenty of heralded European and Asian talents.
A look at this season’s F1 grid shows that the latest stars such as Kevin Magnussen (McLaren), Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) and Valteri Botta (Williams) graduated from NEC, so after leaving the UK racing scene behind and progressing to Europe for the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC championship – it all starts this weekend for Seb Morris !
A number of the Full Contact team shall be in Monza, and wish Seb all the very best.
