Full Contact client Ben Sampayo has today signed a professional contract at Scottish Championship club Greenock Morton.
Ben, 21, was formerly a professional at Brighton & Hove Albion, which had followed an Academy career at Chelsea. He can play either right or left back.
Greenock Morton are struggling at the foot of the Scottish Championship, but have recently appointed a new manager (Kenny Shiels) in an attempt to turn around their fortunes.
Lee Payne, head of Full Contact’s Football Agency team, said “This is a good opportunity for Ben to return to the full time, professional game and make a name for himself. Ben was extremely unlucky at Brighton and since the summer has worked so hard to get himself an opportunity. I saw him play a trial game a few weeks ago for Carlisle, where he played against Blackburn, and he was outstanding – but he has just not had that little bit of luck that you sometimes need in order to get a chance. By signing for Morton he now has a great chance to play games, let everyone see what he can do, and I believe he will show quite a few people what they missed out on. He is a super little full back.”
All at Full Contact wish Ben, and Greenock Morton, all the best for the remainder of the season as they battle to retain their Championship status. Morton await international clearance before Ben will be eligible to play.
