Santiago, 26, trialled at MK Dons last summer and was perhaps unfortunate to not obtain a contract, so returned to Argentina to play for hometown club Atletico Alumni. A Full Contact client for a while, the plan was for him to return to the UK in the January transfer window, a goal which has materialised today as Santiago becomes new manager Andy Thorn’s first signing at Kidderminster.
Santiago has long since held dreams to build a career and life in the UK, as a result of a loan spell he had in 2007/2008 at Watford. Schooled at the giants of Argentinian football, River Plate, he has aside from his loan spell at Watford played in Costa Rica and is now keen to establish a presence in English football. A left footed central or wide midfielder, Santiago’s signing at Kidderminster Harriers today is subject to international clearance being obtained.
Dan Chapman, senior partner of Full Contact, said “We are very pleased that Santiago is finally here in England. He is a player that I was recommended to by some of the coaching staff who knew him at Watford, and ever since then he has shown a complete dedication and passion to returning to this country and building a career here. He’s been a pleasure to work with, very patient and we look forward to seeing how he can now settle and develop as a player. All credit has to go to Kidderminster Harriers for making this deal happen, and I am sure Santiago will quickly become a fans favourite.”
