Full Contact client Ollie Banks has today been announced as the Football League’s Young Player of the Month, for November.
The prestigious award covers players that play in all three divisions of the Sky Bet Football League.
21-year-old Ollie, who only joined Chesterfield in September from non-league side FC United of Manchester, scored four goals in the month for the Spireites as part of a series of impressive displays.
When collecting the award, Banks said: “I was buzzing when I found out that I’d won, it was up there with the feeling of scoring. Some big players have won it and if I can get somewhere near where Wilfied Zaha and Will Hughes are then I’ll be delighted.”
Chesterfield manager Paul Cook added: “He’s been a breath of fresh air since he came here and it’s refreshing to see someone with that attitude for the game. He’s played well and his enthusiasm for the game shines through.”
David Wetherall, Head of Youth Development at The Football League, said: “Oliver has worked hard to get a chance to prove himself. It’s always pleasing to see young players being given an opportunity to play first team football and Chesterfield are certainly benefitting from Oliver’s form over the last month.”
