Full Contact have today signed terms to represent Chesterfield’s talented midfielder Ollie Banks.
Ollie, 21, began his career as a youth player at Rotherham United (following in the footsteps of his father Ian Banks, who had played professionally for some 20 years including long spells at clubs such as Barnsley and Leicester City) and scored on his debut for the Millers in 2011. Following a number of loan spells during his last season at Rotherham, Ollie surprisingly found himself playing non-league football throughout the 2012/2013 season, but extremely impressive form at the well supported FC United of Manchester caught the attention of the Spirerites.
Returning to professional football in September with the League 2 challengers, Ollie has already featured regularly as a substitute in the Football League, including an impressive 60 minute display in Chesterfield’s last game against Bristol Rovers, and will now look to break through in to the starting line up.
Lee Payne, head of Full Contact’s player agency team, said of Ollie “He has worked so hard to get himself back in to the professional game, and is a great example for many young players who find themselves released. Ollie has a fantastic physique, is a combative midfielder but with an attacking threat, and I am certain that he will prove to be a real success at Chesterfield. We are very excited to be working with him.”
Ollie joins Chesterfield team-mate Armand Gnanduillet within the Full Contact ranks, and we wish them all the best as they seek promotion to League 1 this season.
