Full Contact client Seb Morris emerged from a dramatic weekend at Silverstone with his seventh podium of the season, and second place in the Formula 4 championship standings.
As the title battle reaches a crucial stage, with only six races now remaining in the season, the 17 year old was left frustrated by what could have been notwithstanding the podium finish in the third race of the weekend.
Beginning the final race in fourth position on the grid, Seb made a fantastic start to move into third on the run to Copse and then closed-up behind second placed (and championship leader) Jake Hughes to end the lap only 0.5 seconds shy of his title rival. Seb then produced a great pass for second midway through lap three and sized up a potential move for the lead shortly after. Unfortunately, though, the slightest of contact resulted in a damaged front wing and nose cone and with his car severely compromised, Seb performed miracles in bringing his car home in third place.
Seb had also been the victim of a shunt which caught the stewards’ attention in race 2, which deprived him of a finish much higher than the seventh he obtained ; again displaying his excellent ability in staying on track and bringing the car home.
Seb Morris commented “We have lost some ground to Hughes in the championship but we’ll never give up, we just need to keep pushing. Our car seems to be really good at the end of the weekend, we just need to find more pace at the start and then we will be right there. Everything is still all to play for.”
The championship moves to Snetterton in three weeks’ time, giving Seb and his Hillspeed team plenty of time to plot how they go about making inroads in to Jake Hughes’ 34 point lead.
Dan Chapman, senior partner of Full Contact, commented “What stood out for me this weekend was Seb’s incredible determination to succeed, often against all the odds, and of course his supreme driving talent demonstrated in spades in race 3. Whatever happens this season in the championship battle, Seb has proven this year both on and off the track that he has what it takes to prosper at the highest level of motor racting and we are enjoying our part in this journey.”
The Full Contact team are currently working hard on a number of strategic and commercial partnerships for Seb, details of which will be revealed soon.
