Full Contact client Luciano Bacheta’s forthcoming season, due to start this weekend in Monza for the Zele Racing in Auto GP, has today been boosted by the announcement of his team-mate for this weekend as Narain Karthikeyan.
Narain Karthikeyan was the first Formula 1 motor racing driver from India when he debuted in 2005 for Jordan, and a F1 career of 48 races included full seasons in 2011 for Hispania Racing and in 2012 for the now defunct HRT F1 Team. His interest in motorsport began at an early age, as his father was a national rally champion in India and another relative was India’s most famous racing driver until Narain came along.
Narain has huge experience outside of Formula 1 too, having competed in series such as British Formula Ford (1994), British Formula 3 (1998 to 2000), World Series (2002 to 2004), A1 GP (2007 to 2009) and also NASCAR and Le Mans.
Akshay Luciano Bacheta, of Indian parentage himself, will benefit from the huge experience of partnering Narain and the pair will present an exciting duo to the Indian fans who -as they demonstrated at the recent Indian Formula 1 GP – so crave a home hero in motorsport.
Luciano Bacheta said “It’s great to find out that I’ll be working alongside Narain this year. We will be pushing each other hard and it will benefit the team a lot by having two strong drivers. Following my racing in India over the winter and my ancestry the synergy is extremely exciting.”
