A host of celebrities from the world of sport and entertainment were in attendance at Farnborough Town’s ground on Sunday September 9th, for the inaugural Sellebrity Soccer Stars match.
The Sellebrity Soccer Stars concept is the brainchild of Darren Eadie, the ex-Norwich and Leicester City winger, who now dedicates his time to charity and has established the Sellebrity website, where well known people auction unwanted items with the purpose of raising money for UK charities.
This event allowed members of the public to buy tickets to see some familiar faces showcase their soccer skills for charity; in the red corner was Joe Calzaghe’s team and in the blue corner, the Sellebrity team captained by Lee Ryan. And it was the Sellebrities who ran out convincing winners, 4-1, with goals scored by DJ Woody, Bertie Brayley (2) and Darren Eadie himself. Calzaghe’s consolation was scored by TOWIE’s Mario Falcone.
Dan Chapman, Senior Partner at sports law and football agency Full Contact, who are sponsors of Sellebrity Soccer Stars, was on the lookout for professional talent: ‘There were some impressive performances; Mario Falcone was particularly popular with female sections of the crowd, so he would carry plenty of commercial clout, but only time will tell whether we attempt to sign any of these guys up for Full Contact’
The next game for the Sellebrity Soccer Starswill be on the 21st October 2012 at Staines FC.
How many of these Sellebritity Soccer Stars can you name?
